Stamford celebrates 76th Anniversary of India’s independence with kites, dancing

STAMFORD — The Connecticut chapter of the Global Organization of People of Indian Origin has joined hands with Stamford City and Mill River Collaborative to host a festival in to commemorate Indian Independence at Mill River Park.

After a flag-raising ceremony at the government center, Mill River Park was the scene of fun and family gatherings, with kite flying, colorful folk and classical — and Bollywood — dances, music and vendors for Indian food, Indian arts and crafts, Indian clothing and other items.
